Timber adds warmth, charm, and value to any space—but over time, it can lose its shine due to wear, scratches, or fading. At Adept Painting, we specialize in professional timber sanding and polishing that brings back the original beauty and strength of your wooden surfaces.
Whether it’s a century-old hardwood floor, stair treads, or timber furniture, we treat every project with care, precision, and premium materials to achieve a rich, long-lasting finish.
What We Sand & Polish
We work on all types of residential and commercial timber surfaces:
Solid timber flooring
Engineered and floating timber floors
Timber stairs and handrails
Decking and verandahs
Wooden furniture and built-ins
Doors, trims, and skirtings
Why Timber Sanding & Polishing Is Worth It
Wood is a natural material that responds to its environment. Over time, it can fade, dent, or lose its original color and grain definition. Sanding and polishing restore its strength and appearance—making your home feel cleaner, brighter, and more valuable.
Key Benefits:
Removes scratches, stains, and surface damage
Enhances the natural grain and texture of wood
Adds protective coatings for durability and shine
Increases property value and aesthetic appeal
Extends the lifespan of your timber flooring and surfaces
Our Timber Sanding & Polishing Process
We follow a professional, dust-minimized process that ensures an even finish and long-lasting results:
1. Assessment & Quotation
We inspect your timber to assess its type, condition, and previous finishes. This helps us choose the best sanding technique and polish type for your project.
2. Floor Preparation
All furniture is removed or protected, and nails or staples are recessed. We may perform minor repairs like filling gaps or cracks before sanding.
3. Dustless Sanding
Using industrial-grade machines with dust extraction systems, we sand the timber in multiple stages—starting coarse and finishing fine—to remove old finishes and smooth the surface.
Finish Options
We offer a range of finish styles to suit your design:
Satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss sheen
Natural clear or custom stain color
Matte finish for a modern look
Slip-resistant coatings for safety

Frequently Asked Questions
Timber polishing and sanding is an investment in your property’s beauty and longevity. Here are some common questions we receive from homeowners and business owners alike.
How often should timber floors be sanded and polished?
On average, timber floors should be sanded and polished every 7–10 years, depending on wear and foot traffic. In high-use areas, you may need a refresh sooner. Regular maintenance and proper cleaning can extend the time between full restorations.
Will sanding remove deep scratches and stains?
Yes—most surface-level and even moderately deep scratches can be removed through our multi-stage sanding process. However, if the damage is severe or the boards are too thin (in older floors), we may recommend repairs or replacements for best results.
How long before I can walk on the floor after polishing?
Generally, you can walk on the floor with socks after 24 hours, and light furniture can return in 48–72 hours depending on the type of polish used. Full curing may take up to a week, during which we recommend avoiding rugs, high heels, and moisture.
